Meet The Kitchen Queen
After several years of talking about offering one-to-one cooking lessons, I have set up Kitchen Queen. As for my motivation, where do I start?
Food has always been a passion of mine. From a very young age I can remember standing on a chair in the kitchen with my Mum or Granny, looking through recipes and helping them make cakes, or whatever it was we'd be having for dinner that evening. I was lucky enough to be allowed to just "play" in the kitchen – creating all sorts of concoctions with whatever I could find in the cupboards, or with fruit we had picked while out on our bikes that day. I didn't realise it at the time but I was picking up basic cooking tips the whole time. My love of food just grew from there, and whenever I could, I would be at home cooking.
Through school I learned Sugarcraft, (making flowers out of icing) and from this, I made wedding and birthday cakes for pocket money. When it came to A Levels, my school couldn't offer an A Level in Food, so I decided to study for a GNVQ in Hospitality and Catering Management. From this point I decided that I didn't necessarily want to work in Hotel Management, nor in a big kitchen, and so I pursued studies in Information Systems Management and kept my passion for cooking as a hobby.
During the first two years of study, I worked making cakes and gateaux in a garden centre café – possibly my favourite job to date! I would also nominate myself to cook for parties, dinner parties and Christmas dinners wherever possible – much to the delight of my friends! Following a Masters in Information Systems Management, I have now worked within the field of marketing for just over five years.
Whilst I love marketing, my passion has, and always will be for food – eating, cooking, entertaining and the enjoyment that goes with it. After years of trial and error, practice and creativity in the kitchen I have dozens of tried and tested recipes I'm eager for other people to learn to cook. In addition to food knowledge I would love more than anything to pass on my passion and enthusiasm to others – to get people in the kitchen cooking good, home-made food, and more to the point enjoying themselves in the process. After all, we eat three times a day (at least!).
I have my lovely friends and family to thank for supporting me throughout the creation of "Kitchen Queen", as well as the guys from www.setyourrate.com, who encouraged me to advertise my cooking lessons, and who made it possible to "dip my toes in the water" in the first place by advertising my service on their fantastic site.
Whether you're looking to book a cooking lesson for yourself, for your children as you send them off to Uni, or for your little ones' birthday party, then please get in touch – the aim of our service is to fit with your needs and requirements.
You'll be the queen (or king!) of your own kitchen in no time.
Happy cooking
